Everything you need for great outdoor activity holidays or school trips - watersports, walking, climbing and steamboat trips, it’s all here. YHA Ambleside is on the edge of Lake Windermere, host to a variety of watersports and overlooking the nearby Langdale Pikes - great for walking and climbing. Tickets for cruises and Mountain Goat tours are available from reception. The hostel has a modern bar and restaurant serving good food and local ales, just right for weekend breaks. The village has plenty of shops to browse and two cinemas for evening entertainment. We can organise outdoor activity packages for groups, including rock climbing, kayaking, ghyll scrambling and canoeing. If you're on a walking holiday, don't forget to ask at reception for walking routes in the area.

As a registered charity YHA (England and Wales) relies on help from members and donors to support the work we do. A lot of the work we do aims to enhance the lives of young people through experiences and opportunities.

With your help disadvantaged young people continue to benefit, gaining confidence and self awareness whilst learning new skills. We also work with the Armed Forces and Ministry of Defence to run FAB camps offering support to bereaved service families bringing them together with others who have faced loss.

Donations, legacies and grants also help keep our hostels up to standard so we can deliver great experiences and a warm welcome.

We’d like to thank all our supporters past, present and future. Every gift makes a difference and your generosity is really appreciated.
